    The Problem

    Why a Carnivore-Specific Probiotic Exists

The probiotic category was built around a fiber-fed gut. Most well-known strains were studied in populations eating standard Western or Mediterranean diets, where prebiotic fiber feeds the bacteria, plant polyphenols shape the microbiome, and bile loads stay relatively modest.

A carnivore or strict keto diet is a very different environment:

    Bile output is much higher

Animal fat triggers significant bile release, and probiotic strains that tolerate bile behave differently than strains that don't.

    Dietary fiber is near zero

The fiber-fermenting bacteria that dominate plant-fed guts have far less to work with. The microbiome shifts toward protein and fat fermenters.

    pH and transit time change

A meat-heavy diet alters how quickly food moves through the gut and how acidic different sections of the intestine become.

The fuel source for bacteria changes

Strains that rely on plant fiber for energy don't have a strong food source. Strains that can use protein metabolism byproducts have a competitive advantage.

This isn't a controversial claim, it's basic microbiology. The interesting question is what to do about it, and that's where Carnivore Biotics started.

    The Formula

    How the Formula Came Together

We focused on three Lactobacillus strains that show up repeatedly in published research in more and more scientific journals relevant to high-fat, low-fiber diets:

    L. reuteri

One of the most-studied bile-tolerant probiotic strains. Research on this strain has explored its relationship with bile salt metabolism, fat digestion, and gastrointestinal comfort. For a diet built around fatty cuts, butter, and tallow, a bile-tolerant strain is the logical starting point. Which is important for a fatty cut based diet.

    L. rhamnosus

Among the most-researched probiotic strains in the world. The body of literature explores its role in gut barrier function, immune system support, and tolerance during dietary transitions. It's a workhorse strain that fits the role of supporting the gut lining during the shift to animal-based eating.

    L. gasseri

A strain often discussed in metabolic and body composition research. It's particularly relevant for red-meat-forward eaters because of research exploring its role in metabolic balance and uric acid pathways.

All three strains are delivered in a delayed-release capsule designed to help live cultures travel past stomach acid and reach the small intestine.

    Audience

    Who Carnivore Biotics Is For

People starting a carnivore or lion diet who are navigating the transition

Long-term carnivores wanting daily gut support

Keto and low-carb eaters dealing with bile and fat-digestion adjustment

Animal-based and high-protein eaters who want a probiotic that matches their diet

    Anyone on a zero-carb, high-fat, high-protein eating pattern

If you eat a fiber-rich diet, frankly, there are probably probiotics on the market that are a better fit for you than ours. We're a specialist product, not a general one.

    Research

    About the Science

We maintain a dedicated Science page that walks through each of the three strains in our formula, the published research behind them, and why those studies matter for people eating a high-fat, low-fiber diet.

We selected strains with relevant published literature and formulated them into a delayed-release capsule suited to a carnivore or keto eater's day.

    Quality & Compliance

    What Our Licensing Means

Carnivore Biotics is licensed by Health Canada under Natural Product Number (NPN) 80145666.

A few honest clarifications about what that means, because the supplement industry tends to overstate this:

    An NPN is a license

Health Canada has reviewed the product's identity, dosage, recommended use, risk information, and the evidence supporting it under the Natural Health Products Regulations. The NPN means the product is safe for Canada as a natural health product and that Health Canada has reviewed and tested it.

    GMP is a manufacturing standard

The product facility operates under Good Manufacturing Practices, which is a quality standard covering cleanliness, process control, ingredient verification, and testing. It's the same framework used by reputable supplement companies.

We mention all of this because the supplement category has a long history of dressing up routine regulatory steps as if they were special accomplishments. We'd rather just tell you what's actually true.
